StarConnect is an innovative company that provides a unique service that enables independent Internet Service Providers, CLECs, ILECs, etc.. (collectively "ISPs") to meet a well defined, large and rapidly growing need by its end-users for broadband Internet access.

StarConnect is a wholesaler of satellite-based broadband Internet access to ISPs operating in under-served rural and suburban markets in the US (27 million households) and Latin America.

StarConnect is serving customers today and is rapidly expanding its market penetration through its innovative wholesale distribution approach. This consists of:

Hundreds of ISPs and a few private cable operators (CATV) in the US and Latin America territories that have subscribed to StarConnect's wholesale satellite Internet program
 
Immediately serviceable potential end-user base (end-user homes served by the StarConnect ISPs) in excess of two (2) million households. Additionally, StarConnect's rate of end-user acquisition via its channel is growing by 50% monthly.

StarConnect's low cost structure and proven standards-based technology enables a cost effective solution with high margins for distributing ISPs. StarConnect has:

Proprietary hardware and software, capable of handling an excess of one hundred million end-user subscribers

The Opportunity
Broadband Internet access is growing very rapidly. Penetration in the US has been growing at 30% per year, with forecast penetration exceeding 35% of households by 2007. Comparable growth rates are seen in international markets, such as Latin America and Europe. However, the prevalent solutions, digital subscriber loop (DSL) offered by telephony companies, and cable modem service, offered by cable TV operators, are generally not offered in rural areas because of the high cost to deploy or upgrade physical infrastructure in areas with low population density. StarConnect's satellite-based solutions can provide broadband connectivity cost effectively to these areas, enabling ISPs and CATV operators to offer affordable broadband connectivity to customers in rural or sub-urban areas, or in urban markets where deployment of modern telecom and cable infrastructure is delayed.

Target Markets
Rural US - 27 million households, with over 3 million estimated to be interested in broadband Internet access through ISP or CATV. StarConnect estimates the total Latin American and Asia opportunities to be at least as large, as telecom and CATV systems that support broadband have very limited deployment.

The Services
StarConnect has four basic products, Sat-Basic, Sat-Max, Sat-Cable and Sat-Wi Fi. Sat-Basic enables ISPs to offer their customers who use traditional dial-up Internet access a satellite-based, direct-to-home access with download speeds up to 25 times faster than their current connection. Sat-Max enables ISPs to offer their customers who use traditional dial-up Internet access a satellite-based, direct-to-home access with download speeds up to 50 times faster than their current dial-up connection. Sat-Cable is a turnkey solution offered to small and midsize cable operators that combines satellite-based Internet access with the CATV operator's physical plant to bring broadband connectivity to the customer's home ( Guantanamo Bay Military Base (Cuba)). Sat-Wi Fi offers the ISPs and Carriers a turnkey solutions to provide a wireless network to their customers.

Distribution Channel
StarConnect's products are sold on a wholesale basis to ISPs, Carriers and CATV operators through a direct sales force. StarConnect's services provide high value to its channel partners by enabling them to offer a broadband service to their end-users which increases gross margins and reduces the likelihood of customer churn. StarConnect also uses a channel management team to support its existing ISPs in their initiatives to upgrade their existing dial-up subscribers to satellite-based broadband Internet access.

Operating Infrastructure
StarConnect operating infrastructure consists of the following:

Transponder capacity - StarConnect has two (2) transponders in service over the US and Latin America, in KU band, and has guaranteed access to 17 additional KU band transponders for a total satellite capacity of over 760 mbps.
 
Operating center - StarConnect's uplink platforms are located in a state-of-the-art operating centers in Atlanta, Georgia.
 
Billing and fulfillment - StarConnect has developed a fully automated, web enabled billing and fulfillment platform that will support the rapid expansion of the customer and end-user base with virtually no increase in cost
 
Engineering and customer support - StarConnect's in-house technical support engineers provide tier II customer support to the ISPs customer service organizations.
